Adi Ran, the pioneer of Jewish rock and judge of “HaKol Haba” in a new single – ‘Agalot ViSussim‘ – straight from the road to the holy kibbutz with Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in Uman on Rosh Hashanah. About the musical production: Shmulik Daniel
Adi Ran has been defined for years as the “King of Jewish Rock” and one of the most prominent leaders of the genre. Now, the esteemed musician and songwriter returns to the forefront with a new song called “Agalot ViSussim“, which is being released ahead of the planned trip to commemorate Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in Uman on Rosh Hashanah.
The new song brings to the forefront Ran‘s sharp and personal impressions of the constant journey. This is a work rich in emotions, spiritual insights and the worldview of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov – an experience that connects spiritual ascension with the very practical and simple moments of the journey, from the bumps in the road to the boxes of “Tuna and Crackers”. The musical production was entrusted to the esteemed musician Shmulik Daniel.
The song’s chorus already outlines the picturesque and overwhelming atmosphere: “Horse carts, horse carts / On winding paths, between swamps and vineyards / Horse carts, horse carts / Barrels and pots, broken boots.” “The journey to the artist is not just a physical journey on the roads, it is an inner and deep journey for the soul,” shares Adi Ran. “I wanted to bring to the song the immediate connection between the mud and the physicality of the road and the spiritual ascension and the irreplaceable joy.” For decades, Adi Ran has been considered one of the most original and influential musicians in contemporary Jewish music. As a pioneer and trailblazer of the “rock-Breslav” genre, he combined electric guitars and energetic rock and roll with deep texts of faith, devotion and connection to the righteous. Throughout his rich career, he has released a medley of hits that have become ironclad assets in Jewish and Israeli soundtracks – including “Ata Kadosh“, “Vashamru“, “Aizeh Kef Lihiyot Yehudi” and “Abba Nehiyiti Dos“. In addition to his performances and work in the recording studio, Ran is also known to the general public for his role as a respected judge on the musical reality show “Hakol Haba”.
