“Rotzeh Rak Otcha,” Eyal Bogat‘s new single, began with a tune he had been singing for years while studying the Gemara. From there, the lyrics, the melody, and the song that developed while working in the studio were born. The song was arranged and produced by David Ichielevich [Ishay Ribo]. Almost by accident, “Rotzeh Rak Otcha” became the first song the two worked on together: Bogat played Ichielevich a song he didn’t even know how to play, and David immediately said, ‘This is the first song we’re working on.’ What was planned to be a sketch developed into a real production in two days.

The lyrics touch on the desire to do the right thing, without turning Hashem’s work into calculations of reward and result. Until the moment when everything boils down to one simple sentence: “Rotzeh Rak Otcha.”
Eyal composed this idea in the words of the Alte Rebbe, “I desire neither your heaven nor your next world, I want you for yourself,” and gave it expression in his own words and in today’s language.

Musically, the song goes to a completely different place: a contemporary production with touches of deep house, a rhythm that brings with it a rhythm and a lot of exploding joy. It is no coincidence that it comes out precisely at the beginning of the month of Elul, a time of contemplation and closeness, but also of “Ivdu Es Hashem Bisimcha”

This is Bogat‘s second song, after “Chibuk Preida,” which was written following his service in the Yaser unit for the rescue of fallen soldiers, moved hundreds and received extensive and laudatory media coverage. This time he tells a different story, but continues from the same real place from which his music began, life itself.
