A moment before the historic wedding at Mount Sinai: the giant Chassidic singer Yisrael Adler, the arranger and conductor Yoeli Fischer and his orchestra, the Shira Choir and the prodigies of the Yingerlach Choir, unite for an unprecedented giant production and present the Chassidic masterpiece of all time: “Melitzer Yedid Nefesh“.
“Melitzer Yedid Nefesh” is a heavenly masterpiece, a refined symphony of longing, saturated with the ancient fragrance of ancient majesty, carved in the holy courtyard of Melitz, with the melody of the Rebbe Rabbi Elimelech of Melitz, who was killed Al Kiddush Hashem.
Now for the first time, the work has come to life in a spectacular musical performance like you have never heard before, the velvety and captivating singing of Yisrael Adler merges with the heavenly harmonies of the Shira Choir, with the pure angelic voices of the Yingerlach Children’s Choir, under the musical baton of Maestro Yoeli Fischer.
The work walks a deep spiritual journey: It opens with a restrained, almost silent movement, the trembling steps of the soul searching in the darkness of exile, begging for the closeness of HaShem: “משוך חסדיך ליודעך- Draw Your servant to Your will”, the melodic motif is built layer upon Your layer, until it bursts from the walls of the heart into a cry that bursts forth, “נפשי חולת אהבתיך-My soul is sick for your love,” and culminates in the emotional and chilling plea: “Please, my beloved, spread out the tent of your peace upon me… Hurry, my beloved, for the time has come, and have mercy on me as on the days of the world.”
The work was performed with excitement in front of an audience of thousands at the central graduation ceremony of the “Torascha Sha’ashu’uy” organization of Satmar Jews in the month of Sivan, 5785, and is now being presented to the general public in preparation for Shavuot.
