Tzama 5786 Events Shift into High Gear: Thousands Already Flooded Binyanei HaUma

The annual “Tzama” events at Binyanei HaUma in Jerusalem have become the hottest ticket in recent days, with thousands of participants from across the country filling the central complex. The diverse crowd, who came to connect with Chassidic melodies (nigunim) and study in preparation for the 19th of Kislev—the “New Year for Chassidut”—enjoyed a rich and varied program. This made the event, held for the 16th year at the initiative of Rabbi Moshe Shilat, a magnet for the general public.

Record attendance was noted from the very first days, with close to 40,000 people visiting the venue within just 72 hours. Participants flocked to musical performances, uplifting gatherings (hitvaaduyot), fascinating lectures, a massive book fair, and inspiring exhibitions.

The highlight of the events was undoubtedly the enormous nigunim performance, featuring leading artists such as Avraham Fried, Akiva, Benaya Barabi, and Motty Steinmeitz. The show combined rousing Chassidic melodies with empowering content segments and was presented with a spectacular and heartwarming visual production.

This year, against the backdrop of the challenging security situation, unique content segments were incorporated into the events. These drew a parallel between the stories of heroism and faith of the hostages who returned from Hamas captivity and selected Chassidic texts, thereby giving the event a relevant and poignant dimension.

In addition to the general public, entire mornings were dedicated to the youth audience, with special conferences and thousands of students from schools and yeshivas participating in challenging activities and educational performances. A central part of the educational activity also included the “Lev Ladaat” tests—a broad project that combines in-depth study of Chassidic writings with personal involvement.

And of course, the giant book fair attracted thousands who sought to enrich their libraries, offering hundreds of thousands of Chassidic books for sale.

The “Tzama” events continue to prove themselves as a hub of light, soul, and connection to roots, successfully bringing the teachings of Chassidut to the forefront.
