Sometimes we look to the side and are sure that everything else is going to be easy. Singer Yossi Fried and keyboardist Yossi Polchak release a touching rendition of the classic “Die Trieste fun a Mame” by the late Rabbi Michoel Schnitzler. The reason this time is completely personal. “I’m not here to educate anyone,” Fried shares, “This song simply held me through my difficult moments, and I decided to release it to strengthen me further.”
The song brings to life the famous story of the woman who asked Rabbi Itzikel to replace her “bag of troubles,” and finally chose the smallest bag that turned out to be hers. The message is simple. Everyone has the exact package built for them, both of difficulties and successes.
The combination of Polchak‘s enveloping arrangement and Fried‘s sincere delivery does the job, and hits right in the heart. “If it strengthens even two or three more Jews who need it now, I’ve done my part,” concludes Yossi.
