The Chabad keyboardist and singer David Yishai Sugar performs a moving cover of the beloved Chabad tune “Shuva Shuva“, composed in honor of the birthday of the Rebbe of Lubavitch, on the 11th of Nissan.
The song was composed in the year of the Gulf War, a year in which the Rebbe said that this was the “year in which the Mashiach will be revealed,” based on the midrash in Yalkut Shimoni “The King of Persia taunts the Arab King…”.
“I see it as a special providence to release a performance of this tune, this year approaching the 11th of Nissan, the Rebbe’s birthday, while we are at war with Iran (Persia), and we really see and feel that this is the year in which Mashiach will be revealed, a year in which we smell ‘Mashiach in the air,’” says Sugar.
“I pray that this time, God willing, we will experience the fulfillment of the midrash in completeness, in true and complete redemption. Amen!”
