Singer and composer Yonatan Razel releases a new music video with a special performance of the song ‘Hatov Ki Lo Chalu Rachamecha‘ by Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, z”l. The song was recorded together with the students and rabbis of Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh in preparation for the days of Chanukah. It is as a thanksgiving to Hashem for the great miracles of the Jewish people in recent times. As with the variety of performances he has released in the past, this time too, Yonatan chooses a melody that he connects with and gives it his unique musical interpretation.
Yonatan says: “There are songs that have something so beautiful and precise in them, that it seems like they came straight from above. It is a song of praise and thanksgiving, but there is also something in it that pinches the heart. Something of the longing, of the deep sound that is at the base of the father of melodies of this generation – Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. A melody that is a kind of portrait of our situation, because these are truly days – the days of Chanukkah, days of thanksgiving and joy, days of the end of the war, but unfortunately, like the breaking of the glass on the chuppah, the joy is not complete, our mouths have not yet been filled. It is so special to sing with a group of Torah workers, of rabbis and students whose lives revolve around the constant connection with Hashem. Lucky are you, students of Torah.”
