Chaim Dovid With A New Single “Baruch Kevod HaShem”

Veteran musician Chaim David Sarcik releases a new single born from a fascinating story of a Torah question that put him a bit “up against the wall” in front of the Rosh Yeshiva. The new single, based on the verse from Yechezkel 3:12 – “Baruch Kevod HaShem Mimkomo” was born from a spontaneous and interesting moment during an intimate performance he gave at a yeshiva. It all started with a small performance that Sarcik gave at a Beit Midrash in Geula, in front of only 30 students. During the commemoration, Sarsik sang the song “Ahyay Mikom Kivodo?” from his debut album, “Or Chadash,” and explained to the audience the deep meaning of the question that the angels ask about the place of the Creator’s glory. “After I sang and explained it according to the wonderful dictum of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, the head of the yeshiva looked at me seriously and said, “Well, if you’ve already sung the answer, we’ve sung it!” Sarcik was surprised. “The rabbi’s demand kind of pushed me against the wall…” This challenging moment sparked inspiration: Sarcik explained that the angels’ answer, “Baruch HaShem Mimkomo,” is actually the answer to the question, “Ahyay mikom kivodo?” “Kivodo-His glory” – wherever He is, He is blessed.
From this defining moment the idea for the new work was born. “With the help of HaShem , I began to compose the original of the song that you are hearing before you, and that is how it was born – Baruch Kivod HaShem Mimkomo ” says Sarcik. “I don’t always have success with these things,
but this time I did. I hope that it will please Hashem.
I heard that there are some good people
who enjoy the song…”.
The song was produced in collaboration with Yaron Safar, whom Sarcik describes as “a very talented and very musical person.” Safar not only did the production and musical arrangement, but he also played the bass guitar himself. Although I helped with the arrangement, he was the one primarily responsible,” Sarcik notes.
Chaim David Sarcik, born in South Africa in 1952, immigrated to Israel at the age of twenty-two after a seminal meeting with Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach in Europe. He became acquainted with the world of Jewish music at the Yeshiva Hatfutsot on Mount Zion, where he played a musician and discovered his first songs during performances by the Yeshiva band. In addition to his extensive musical activity, Sarsik continues the ancient tradition as a satam writer. In the past year, he has released a series of new songs, including “Nigun HaRebbi,” “Avadim Hayinu,” and “Adon Olam,” as part of his new EP. Sarsik dedicates his works to the entire Jewish people, especially to the IDF soldiers and their families during this challenging time.
