Yossi Green Presents: Shlomo Simcha “Mimamakim”

The Story

“From the depths, I call out to You, Hashem!”

Shlomo Simcha Sufrin ני”ו, and I got together recently to collaborate on a composition for his upcoming album, a very exciting project he’s been working on for a while with the illustrious production team based in ירושלים, fondly referred to by myself and others who know them, as the “Kleinberrys” Eli Klein & Yitzy Berry! Shloimi, who is one of our finest singers and interpreters of our genre of music, is a delightful and Lechtigeh individual who besides being a great singer is also an extremely effective משפיע רוחני to young Bochurim in their formative years. I consider myself fortunate to have been able to write for him songs throughout the years. Which is why when I received a call from him saying that he has an idea for a composition he wanted from me to round out his album, I was very excited to meet him.

We sat down at the piano and he starts by telling me, “The words in the Perek Tehillim of שיר המעלות ממעמקים have sadly become identified mostly with challenging times in כלל ישראל! The amount of times in the past 2 years since that horrific day on October 7th that we tearfully said these words together out loud standing in front of an open ארון הקודש, is countless! And yet, the words are so gentle and beautiful, as one initiates a precious conversation with הקב”ה and I believe that the time has come for just such a composition rendered as a positive and hopeful song!”

These thoughts touched me deeply and I immediately agreed. As I love a challenge, for me ‘them were fighting words’ and we marched to the piano and בעזהשי”ת very soon there was this Lechtigeh melody wafting through the air. Here is our new song: YG Shlomo Simcha – Mimamakim!
